How we met...

Mike and I met at college. We lived across the street from each other in student housing. I heard through a mutual friend that Mike saw my picture and thought I was cute and wanted to meet me. When my roommates heard this they made sure that I found an opportunity to introduce myself. I was not into dating and they knew I needed a little push.

I sang in the University Chorale and we had a Christmas Choral Concert coming up and was asked by the Choir Directors to pass out fliers for the event. I went from door to door inviting classmates to my concert. My roommates made sure to accompany me to Mike's apartment to make sure we met. Mike was home that night, but on his way out the door to a gig. Come to find out he played the drums in a college band called "Brilliant Stereo Mob". Hot, I know...It was one of those awkward moments where we both knew the real reason why I was at his door, but we both pretended we didn't. He accepted my flier and said he would try and check it out. We found out where and when his band was playing their show that night and said we would try and come.

I made my roommates accompany me to his show partly for support and partly for punishment for getting me into this mess. Mike & I had an opportunity to talk and hang out before & after he played. We were pretty much smitten with each other from that moment on.

Mike did attend my choir concert with my roommates (I still will never know what lies they told him about me), but when he saw this taller handsome older man there to see me and give me flowers after the concert he thought he had a little bit of competition. He was not aware that the other guy was actually my older brother. Once the misunderstanding was resolved he wasn't so intimidated by me anymore. Which worked out for me. :)

We dated for four months and were engaged for four more. We were married in the Oakland California Temple on August 22, 2003.
